Mission
To be the primary body in Singapore representing, promoting and developing the professional practice of Internal Auditing.

A Vision for the Future
The IIAS has made tremendous progress during the last 30 years. Going forward, the Board of Governors has mapped out a blue print that will bring the Institute to a higher plane in the next year.

Strengthen Training Capability
The IIAS has plans to set up a training academy t promote and develop internal audit training and development courses. It will seek the support of the IIA Inc in developing curriculum, instructions manuals and train-the-trainer programmes as well as to collaborate with local tertiary institutions to leverage their expertise and facilities.

Enhance IIAS Resources and Facilities
The IIAS will continue to harness information technology applications to improve the way the Institute communicates with its members and to enhance its services to members by making its programmes and facilities more accessible through its website and e-newsletters.

Industry Leadership
Through its roundtables and interest group discussions, the IIAS will continue to provide feedback and advocacy on corporate governance and other standards and regulations that can enhance the integrity and credibility of the internal auditing profession.

Common Body of Knowledge
The IIA Research Foundation has embarked on an important research study designed to build the internal audit profession’s common body of knowledge and to determine the state of the profession throughout the world. The survey will be targeted at respondents from IIA affiliates worldwide and will attempt to capture information on:

The knowledge and skills that internal auditors possess
The varying skill and organizational levels that practice internal auditing work
The actual duties performed by internal auditors
The structure of internal auditor organization
The types of industries which practice internal audit
The regulatory environment of various countries

The results of the study will provide an understanding of the value-added role internal audit plays in corporations in the world. It will enable IIA to chart direction for the future development of internal audit profession. It will also drive changes, where necessary, on the contents of certification examinations, standards, advocacy, practice advisories, education programmes, education products and publications.

This global initiative is funded by the William Bishop III, CIA Memorial Fund. IIA Singapore is actively supporting this project and members are responding to the survey enthusiastically.
